Military Aircraft Hangar - Working with the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Middle East, the Egyptian Air Force needed a new aircraft hangar to maintain and repair four types of aircraft. Our team was brought in as lead architect to provide architectural, in-house, civil, aeronautical, and structural design services on this single-story hangar bay. We also provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design engineering services, communications, and life protection/fire protection design services.
The hangar houses meeting rooms, operational support areas and various maintenance shops for the use of the Egyptian military that operate 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. There is a concrete barrier to the runway adjacent to the taxiway and parking for two additional aircraft. The building also incorporates green strategies using sustainable methods and materials.

Our team provided key project services for the project, verifying platform design and equipment configuration in maintenance shops with USACE and the Egyptian Army. It was designed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and uses virtual meetings instead of face-to-face meetings.
